Yalonda Smith is an author, speaker, policy writer, and entrepreneur. She is an ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate, Tony Gaskins Certified Life Coach, and a Devereux Certified Direct Care Staff Trainer in Safe and Positive Approaches to crisis prevention and crisis intervention. I am also a member of the American Evaluation Association.
My name is Yalonda Smith (formerly Yalonda Hooks), and I owned a successful group home for foster children for 8 years in Jacksonville Florida.
I am a location independent consultant that loves to help others make their dreams a reality! My dream is to travel the world and enjoy life right now, not when I retire! I am currently living my dream. I absolutely love being able to be anywhere in the world and all I need is my laptop to keep and maintain my business and serve my clients without interruption or delay.
I currently live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but I am from a small town called Sanford Florida, 30 minutes outside of Orlando. I owned my own successful group home from 2006-2013 in Jacksonville, FL. I started my consulting business, “How to Start a Successful Group Home, LLC in 2009 as a side business to help others get through the licensing process of opening a group home and to help them avoid some of the pitfalls I had to endure. I maintained my group home and my consulting business simultaneously for about 5 years before I closed my group home in November 2013. I decided to leave Florida and venture north to experience new opportunities and the snow! I stepped out on faith and decided to take my consulting business to the next level and assist others to make their visions and dreams a reality on a full-time basis! I changed the name of my business to Cornerstone Consulting & Coaching, LLC when I expanded my vision and services to include life coaching in 2016.
I have been in the social service field for 12 years helping women and children. Prior to my dream of entrepreneurship became a reality in 2006, I gained experience and passion for helping others along the way in my career by serving as a domestic abuse counselor and case manager in Florida and New York, a foster care case manager, and a juvenile detention officer. I have worked in many aspects of the social service field working to help others find peace, love, and joy in the midst of their storms. I found that overall through all the different jobs that I held, my greatest passion was goal planning with the different populations, no matter what field or age group. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing their eyes light up as I asked them what did they want to do in life. I strive to touch as many lives as possible through providing business start-up services, life coaching, life skills training, spiritual development, and fulfillment, most importantly by helping them create an action plan to make their dreams a reality. I am a Christian, a woman of integrity and love, and gifted in helping and encouraging others. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to hear a client say, “You help to make my dream come true and I could not have done it without you!” Now, are you ready for me to help to help you make your dream a reality?
